About Julia

When most people graduate from college, they leave – but not me!  I graduated Lehigh University in May 2012 with a BA in English, having lovingly studied authors including Shakespeare, Brontë, and Beckett (and begrudgingly slogging through James Joyce).  But it wasn’t enough!  Because I received a fifth year tuition free, I went back to Lehigh to complete my second major, this time in Psychology.  (And as my high school band director used to say: “free! my favorite flavor!”)
Not content to just sit in a classroom for my second senior year, I branched out into the wild world of Internships.  In the fall, I interned at Bicycling Magazine.  In addition to the normal intern-y responsibilities (fact checking, picking up bicycle parts for photo shoots), I also wrote the feature 2,696 Pounds, 36 Lives: How Did They Do It?  For this spring semester, I will be shifting gears (no pun intended) from Bicycling Magazine to a newspaper, The Morning Call.

Besides classes, internship, and a part time job, I even manage to make time for fun!  Reading (as if I didn’t get enough for class!), yoga (aka. body pretzels), trivia nights at the bar with friends, crafting (mostly knitting and sewing), keeping abreast of women’s issues, watching comedy shows – all typical activities and interests of mine.  During the fall, I love going to football games but, as an alumna of the marching band, half time is my favorite part of the game.

Did I mention that my boyfriend and I have two cats (Sassy and Savannah)?  I’m obsessed with them, so don’t get me started!

And I have a serious case of the travel bug!  I was fortunate to travel to Europe a few times with my parents and sister growing up (France, the Netherlands, England, Scotland, Wales, Italy).  Then, my junior year, I studied abroad in Montpellier, France and fell in love with the region (think California weather with baguettes!).  I added a few more countries onto my growing list that semester (Spain, the Czech Republic, Germany).  Next stop: Greece (hopefully)!

That about covers it!  (Oh, and if you haven’t noticed, the parenthesis is my favorite punctuation mark.)
